Yudi Chen: Italy

italy_final_sm

I had a lot of fun during my summer in Italy.  I remember spending most of my time with fellow artists Yoshi Yoshitani and Donna Lee.  We were the only three people taking back to back studios that summer so we spent a lot of time drawing and traveling together.  I feel pretty nostalgic for those long walks home after a full day of classes.

Zoë Bae: Two Truths And A Lie

twotruthsandalie

I wanted to think about the current state of affairs in Korea, which unfortunately isn’t all too optimistic. Innocent passengers sank into deep water last April, and shadow of the past accident still divides the public. A study done by Yonsei University revealed that Korean adolescents are the least  happy among those in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) last year, a recent survey showed. The list is too long for me to mention all.

Staying pessimistic never yields an answer for the better future. So many of Korean citizens, however, live with a burden of sustaining their everyday life at work and home. In the face of continuing calamities it seems that they have to go on living with a blind faith that time is a remedy for all. But could simply passing time without making effort really serve as a true remedy?

This Month’s Challenge: Two Truths and a Lie

Welcome to 72 Meeting St!

This month’s challenge will be Two Truths and a Lie.

Two Truths and a Lie is a simple ice breaker game.  A player makes three statements: two truths and one lie.  The other players then guess which statement is the lie.  It’s interesting to ponder what things we decide to reveal and what things people believe about us.  How will we choose to interpret this game into our illustrations?

Stay tuned!

Love,

The ladies of 72 Meeting St

Yudi Chen: Favorite Song

5.15.15_noblehrt_sm

I don’t have a favorite song because it changes quite often based on timing, mood, and whether or not I’ve listened to it already too many times.  But I was really enjoying Phox’s “Noble Heart” for a while for its pretty melody and lyrics.  I would often sing it to myself while walking to and back from work in Boston.  Here’s a link to the song on youtube!

Karen Sung: Favorite Song

KS_favsong

Well, yes, it’s not ‘a’ song. An entire album. Of Monsters and Men is a indie folk band from Iceland. Their album, ‘My Head is an Animal’ is like experiencing a full concert. Their music is majestic and breezy, and I always imagine the never-seen scenery of Iceland. I always gain hope and inspiration from their songs.

Yudi Chen: Favorite Food

ychen_favfood_sm

It’s impossible to pick just one favorite food…So instead here is my favorite food experience!  Dimsum food is great but what I love is the ability to try a bunch of different dishes (similar but sometimes cheaper than a buffet).  It’s too bad dimsum is only served as a brunch.  I wish there were dimsum-like experiences for different cuisines especially when I’m unfamiliar with the food.
